THE END OF TOGETHERNESS is a surreal parable about a man forced to end the true self he is. This short film, shot in a day in a German forest, is Nils’ 1st short film which granted him acceptance into AFI’s Directing program. The dreamlike and surreal tone, a visual language inspired by German painter Caspar David Friedrichs and it’s story about personal duality are recurring themes and aesthetics throughout Nils’ work since this first narrative film.
